RESDAL invites to the webinar “Conduct and
Discipline in Peace Operations and within the United Nations System”
The
Latin American Security and Defence Network (RESDAL) invites to the upcoming
webinar “Peace Operations: The Role of the UN Conduct and Discipline Service,”
to be held on November 20th at 10:00am (EST).
The
session will focus on the work of the Conduct and Discipline Service (CDS) of
the United Nations Secretariat, which leads efforts to prevent and respond to
sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEA) within UN peace operations.
Representatives from the CDS will present the policies, standards, and
mechanisms that guide the UN’s approach to accountability, victim support, and
professional conduct across peacekeeping missions.
The
discussion will also include the participation of Troop- and
Police-Contributing Countries (T/PCCs) from the Global South, which will share
their national experiences and institutional responses to cases of sexual
misconduct. The exchange aims to highlight effective practices and strengthen
cooperation to promote transparency, integrity, and prevention in peacekeeping
environments.
Organized
by RESDAL, with the participation of
the United Nations Conduct and
Discipline Service, the webinar is supported by Global Affairs Canada through the Elsie Initiative. It is the third in the “Interregional Conversations from the Global South” series,
conducted within the framework of the project Women in Peace Operations: Supporting Inclusive Environments through
Interregional Collaboration and National Engagement.
